Candy Laflam started her animal career in 1994 as an apprentice dog trainer, and then became a Kennel Manager at a local veterinarian boarding facility. Halfway through a business degree at a local college, Candy used her education and instincts to market a little known industry called pet sitting. She went on to found Pampered Pet Sitting in June of 2002 and has not looked back since.
Pampered Pet Sitting has quickly become the leading pet sitting company in Western Massachusetts with Candy at the helm where she continually makes strides to bring awareness to the pet sitting industry, along with making the general public aware of the importance of pet sitting as a business.
Candy is also the founder of the Western Mass Pet Sitters Network, which began in November of 2003. As the coordinator of the network, Candy tries to bring pet sitters together as friends instead of competitors and again promote the importance of the pet sitting industry.
Also in 2003, Candy became another liaison for animals by being appointed as the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Goshen, Mass. Quickly after, The Town of Chesterfield also appointed Candy as their Animal Control Officer. This allows her to keep abreast of animal control issues by being an active member of the Animal Control Association of Massachusetts.
In 2003 further continued her quest to be the premier pet sitting business in Western Massachusetts by completing the American Red Cross Pet First Aid course. She has also arranged for other local pet sitters to also be Pet First Aid certified.
In 2005, Candy was appointed to a one year term for PSI as their “Goodwill Ambassador for the State of Massachusetts”. After her term was completed, she became a proud member of the PSI Ambassador Bureau.
As a business professional, Candy has networked with not only other local animal organizations, but is also a proud member of her local Chamber of Commerce, and a member of her local BNI (Business Networking International) chapter.
Candy also will be a guest writer for Animal Life Publication, a local paper devoted to animals and those that love them.
At home, Candy is loved by not only her husband of three years, Keith, but also by all her fur kids. Candy is owned by two dogs (Dahlia & Lacie), five cats (Kage, Charlie, Riley, Mouse & Mama), two guinea pigs (Sam & Buca) and two pet rats (Thelma & Louise).
